RCG Forest

RCG Forest is a theme for WordPress blogs, originally inspired in Green Grapes theme.

The main features of this theme are:

  • green and gray as main colors;
  • flexible width;
  • two columns (with widgets support);
  • footer widgets support;
  • prepared to be localized (the default language is English, but it is localized in Portuguese);
  • custom header;
  • custom background.

The theme was rewritten for version 2.0, now providing a responsive design, based on HTML5 and CSS3. The support for some WordPress features (such as featured images, or custom headers) was also improved.

I am using the RCG Forest theme for my community blog and it is fantastic! Thank you for creating such a wonderful theme.

One request: can you make the theme responsive so it will look good on mobile devices? Thanks!

The theme needs to be updated, to include some of the new features WordPress provides now. I've started working on a new version more than a year ago, but I had no time to finish it :\

When I update the theme, I'll try to make it responsive. However, I don't know when I'll have time to update it.

How do I remove comments for pages on this theme. Thanks.

Daisy, you can delete comments in the Admin Panel (in the Comments tab), like in other themes.

Hello, I am from China. Thank you for making such a concise theme.

Because the Chinese version of the special platoon habit, I would like to know how to modify the text of paragraph spacing.

I am aware of the need to modify the style.css file, but do not know which line you want to modify specific.

Thank you for advice.

Rui Carlos Gonçalves01/02/2014 - 4:01pm

Hello Yimeng,

To change paragraph spacing, go to the CSS block that starts at line 768, and change the margin properties. You can use the values below, for example:

margin: 0 0 28px;
margin: 0 0 2rem;

You may also want to increase line-height (in style.css, around lines 774 and 783, change line-height property value to 2, for example).

Your reply is very timely, and help me solve the problem perfectly.

Thank you.

I wish you happy.

I am using the RCG Forest theme for a new Web Site (this is my first attempt at creating one) and I am really enjoying using it. I have created various pages and child pages so they show up in a Drop down list. However if I click on the top page it always opens up a blank page. Is there a way that I can stop it opening up and only work if I go down to the first or second item in the drop down list? I hope you understand what I am saying and look forward to your reply

For those with the same issue as Peter (previous comment), see this link.

Re my post of the 19th Feb,

Thanks to the reply I had from you it has solved my problem and I doubt whether I would ever have been able to solve this problem without it.

I had spent weeks trying to work out how to stop the “parent” pages (in my header menu) from opening up to show a blank page. All I wanted was for it to only allow the “child” pages in the drop down list to open.

I recommend people to look at the link you gave me that explains how to stop this happening. Go to http://wordpress.org/support/topic/top-level-navigation-item-to-have-no-link#post-2378855 and follow their instructions.

Once again thank you for your help.

Thanks for the nice theme.

I am using it in my website. I want to set the width of the site at 960 pixels. Currently, the site takes up the whole screen and I can't find the option to set the width (the theme thumbnail shows a preview that doesn't take up the whole screen).

Rui Carlos Gonçalves18/03/2014 - 9:49am

Hi hasan,

You will need to set the max-width properties of .site. You can do this editing file style.css around lines 1278. Try to set the properties to something like:

max-width: 880px;
max-width: 62.857142857rem;

(There is a padding of 40px on each side, so you get 880px+40px+40px=960px.)
